Mengapa Tidak Lepas is a picture book I illustrated in collaboration between Let's Read and the Coral Triangle Center in Bali. I learn had a fun when doing the character and color study of the character, Skorpi. This is my first time illustrate a fable. I tried my best to learn the anatomy of marine animals, also the environment around Ambon Scorpionfish. During my anatomy and environmental research, I was greatly assisted by the CTC team.
The Ambon Scorpionfish lives among algae and coral reefs, moving by sweeping its fins across the sand. Sand also used to cover its body to disguise itself. The speckled texture of sand inspired me to use brush that have a close texture of it to visualize this story.
